About watermarking PDF files
A watermark states intent. - Can I watermark only some pages?
- Not in one pass — the text is applied to every page. To mark a subset, split the PDF, watermark the pages you want, and merge the document back together.
- Will the watermark make my text hard to read?
- It is rendered semi-transparently so content stays legible underneath. Long strings are the main risk: they tile densely and clutter the page. Short marks like DRAFT or a single company name read best.
- Does watermarking change the rest of the document?
- No. The existing page content is untouched and the watermark is drawn over the top, so text stays selectable and images are not re-encoded. File size grows only marginally.
